A laser mosquito air defense system is a new technology designed to detect and eliminate mosquitoes using precision laser targeting. In this FAQ, we answer the most common questions about product safety, effectiveness, and real-world performance.
Product Basics
Photon Matrix is the world's first portable laser mosquito defense system, independently developed by the Photon Matrix Lab team. The product combines high-precision detection technologies：LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar，with a galvanometer-controlled precision laser striking system, delivering a chemical-free, automated, and silent physical mosquito control solution. Users simply place the device in the area to be protected and plug it in; it will automatically identify and eliminate mosquitoes entering its detection range, without any manual intervention.
Currently, only the Pro version is available. Key advantages of the Pro version include: an expanded effective range of up to 6 meters, a smart app for control, an included carrying case, a brand-new exterior design, upgraded laser and radar systems, enhanced AI algorithms, and support for wireless firmware updates.

- Blue laser (976nm): Produces visible blue flashes, slightly higher hit and kill rates. Suitable for outdoor patios, gardens, and areas where light effects are not an issue.
- Infrared laser (invisible): Completely invisible, no light pollution, quiet and discreet. Ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, hotel rooms, and other light-sensitive environments.
Both use the same physical mosquito elimination principle; the only difference is visibility. Users can switch between modes via the app.
No. Photon Matrix is specifically optimized for mosquitoes (Culex, Aedes, Anopheles, etc.). Houseflies and fruit flies are larger or faster than our design range. Cockroaches are primarily crawling insects. Wasps and moths are larger with different flight patterns. None of these are reliably detected or targeted. Please continue using appropriate control methods for those pests.
The system identifies targets based on size, flight speed, and movement patterns. Bees and butterflies differ significantly from mosquitoes and have never been mistakenly targeted in extensive testing. However, to maximize protection, we recommend placing the device away from flowering plants, beehives, or butterfly gardens. The device does not actively attack beneficial insects.
Not currently. Our technology has not been tested or calibrated for agricultural pests such as fruit flies, thrips, aphids, or whiteflies. Their size, flight behavior, and activity patterns are completely different from mosquitoes. Additionally, covering large greenhouse or farmland areas would require an impractical number of units. We do not recommend using this product for agricultural pest control.

Yes, we offer wholesale pricing for distributors and resellers, but it is not publicly published. Wholesale terms are provided after sample evaluation and upon confirmation of partnership interest. Minimum (MOQ) wholesale order quantity is 100 units.
Mass production and global shipments are expected to begin in Q2–Q3 2026 (approximately July–August). All orders will be shipped strictly in the order they were received. No expedited or priority shipping is available.
As of April 2026, we have approximately 4,000 orders in the queue. New orders are expected to ship around August 2026. As production ramps up, waiting times will gradually decrease.
Not currently. Our entire production capacity is dedicated to the Photon Matrix brand. If we open OEM orders in the future, the minimum order quantity will be at least 10,000 units, subject to other commercial terms.
The Indiegogo campaign is expected to continue until June 2026. After the campaign ends, the product will transition to regular retail pricing, with no early-bird discounts or free shipping/taxes. We recommend placing orders during the campaign period.
Absolutely. We strongly recommend that all potential distributors and commercial users order 1–2 sample units first to thoroughly test the product in their local environment. The sample price is $648 USD per unit, the same as the regular pre-order price, including all fees.
Shipping & Customs
Yes, we ship to most countries and regions worldwide, including North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, South America, Africa, and the Middle East. Please verify availability for your specific country during checkout on Indiegogo.
No. The $648 price is all-inclusive. We have pre-paid import duties and VAT for major countries through our logistics partners. You will not owe any additional fees upon delivery. In the rare case that you are charged, please contact us with the customs receipt, and we will reimburse you.
Bulk orders are shipped on FOB Shanghai terms. We can also provide EXW quotes upon request. Specific logistics arrangements can be discussed when signing a distribution agreement.

Safety & Certifications
Yes, it is very safe. The device has three layers of safety protection:
- Human detection: LiDAR continuously scans. If a human or large pet enters the target zone, the laser immediately stops firing.
- Background detection: The laser only fires when a valid background distance is detected, preventing firing into open space.
- Low power design: The laser is very low power with extremely short pulse duration. Even in the extremely unlikely event of direct skin exposure, it will not cause burns.
When used as directed, there is no risk to adults, children, babies, or pregnant women.
No. Pets are much larger than mosquitoes and will be recognized as "non-targets," preventing laser firing. However, we recommend placing the device where pets cannot knock it over or chew on it, to avoid physical damage.

Not yet. The CE certification process will begin in May 2026. We will provide updates on certification progress and will announce once certificates are obtained.
Usage & Installation
No. Photon Matrix is a plug-and-play standalone device. No tools or wiring are required. Simply place it on a stable, flat surface (table, shelf, or ground), connect power (wall outlet or power bank), and turn it on. The device will begin working automatically.
Yes. The device is splash-resistant and suitable for outdoor use in patios, gardens, terraces, poolside, campsites, and similar environments. To extend its lifespan, we recommend placing it in a location protected from direct rain (e.g., under eaves or umbrellas) and out of direct sunlight.
Yes. The device is designed for continuous long-term operation. Power consumption is low (approx. 20W), so electricity costs are minimal. We recommend keeping it on 24 hours a day during mosquito season for uninterrupted protection.
The Pro version has an effective radius of 6 meters (approx. 20 feet). The device scans a 90-degree horizontal plane, covering a fan-shaped sector. Users can adjust the direction and height. For 360-degree coverage, multiple units are recommended.
The device covers a 90-degree sector, not a full 360-degree bubble. One unit cannot guarantee complete coverage of a 5x6 meter room. The best strategy is to place the device where mosquitoes are most active (near doors, windows, or beds) and add additional units if needed.
Yes, it is safe. Before each operation cycle, the device performs an environmental scan. If highly reflective surfaces (mirrors, glass walls) are detected that could cause laser reflection, the device will automatically disable the laser and prompt you to adjust the placement or detection distance via the app. Users can also manually set boundaries to avoid reflective surfaces.
Warranty & After-Sales Support
We offer a 12-month standard warranty from the date of delivery. Coverage includes:
- Laser module failure
- LiDAR sensor malfunction
- Mainboard circuit issues
- Power adapter failure
- Galvanometer system abnormalities
Warranty does not cover damage from misuse, water damage, drops, unauthorized disassembly or modification, or use of non-original power supplies.
European consumer law typically requires a 24-month legal warranty for end consumers. We are evaluating our warranty policy for European end users. For distributor partners, the standard is 12 months. For distributors committing to higher volumes and providing local after-sales support, we can negotiate an upgrade to a 24-month commercial warranty.

Yes. For partners who can demonstrate market development capability and sales commitment, we are willing to grant exclusive distribution rights for specific countries or regions. Exclusive agreements typically include annual sales targets and regular performance reviews. Terms are negotiable.
Not at this time. All potential distributors and commercial users must purchase sample units through Indiegogo. We will prioritize sample orders for partners and may offer a discount credit on future bulk orders.
Other Common Questions
The device fires a short, high-power laser pulse that disables the mosquito's wings, causing it to fall and die quickly. This is a purely physical process. The mosquito's body does not burn, so there is no smoke or burning smell. Device noise level is very low (under 30dB), nearly inaudible indoors.
Simple maintenance is recommended. Every 2–4 weeks, clean the optical window (laser and LiDAR area) with a soft lens cloth to prevent dust buildup. The housing can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. No other regular maintenance is required.
The Pro version includes a Bluetooth-connected mobile app for mode switching, status monitoring, and firmware updates. The app does not require a continuous internet connection; only brief connectivity for initial pairing or updates is needed. The device can operate completely offline.
Yes. We continuously improve detection algorithms and user experience, and push firmware updates via the app. Early supporters will receive all software and firmware upgrades free of charge. You will not be left behind as the product evolves.
