Understand the system, specifications and laser options.
Photon Matrix is a portable laser mosquito defense system. By combining LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and vision AI, it provides multiple layers of detection. A galvanometer-controlled short laser pulse then disables mosquitoes in flight.
The system also offers chemical-free mosquito control, low-noise operation and app-based control, with multiple safety protection mechanisms. For both indoor and outdoor use, follow the product manual and setup requirements.
Photon Matrix is currently available in the Pro configuration, with either Blue or Infrared laser options. Both options include a 6 m effective range, a smart app and a carrying case. In addition, Pro features include upgraded laser and radar systems, enhanced AI and wireless firmware updates.
Both versions offer the same mosquito-control performance and use interchangeable accessories. However, their light behaviour differs:
· Blue (450 nm): produces a visible blue flash with each strike and has no indicator laser. For example, patios and gardens may be suitable where visible flashes are acceptable.
· Infrared (976 nm): uses an invisible strike laser and a switchable visible green indicator. Turning off the indicator does not affect mosquito-control performance. This version is an option where visible flashes are undesirable.
An invisible beam does not indicate laser safety. Therefore, follow the same safety and installation requirements for both versions.
Core technology: laser strike + LiDAR + millimetre-wave radar + vision AI module.
Laser components:
· LiDAR: 905 nm
· Strike laser (Infrared): 976 nm
· Strike laser (Blue): 450 nm
· Indicator laser (IR version only): visible green (beam-path visualisation, switchable off)

A short high-power laser pulse disables the mosquito’s wings. This is a purely physical process — the insect is not burned, and there is no smoke or burning smell. Noise is very low (<30 dB), practically inaudible indoors.
No. The detection algorithms and laser parameters are optimised exclusively for mosquitoes, including Culex, Aedes and Anopheles. As a result, other pests cannot be reliably detected or targeted.
Photon Matrix is designed to distinguish mosquitoes from insects with different sizes and flight patterns. No mistaken targeting of bees or butterflies was reported in the testing described in our product information. However, these results are not a guarantee for every environment. Avoid placing the unit near flowering plants or beehives.
Not currently. The technology has not been tested or calibrated for agricultural pests. In addition, covering large areas would require an impractical number of units and would not be cost-effective.
Safety features, setup limitations and certification status.
Photon Matrix includes multiple safety mechanisms designed to inhibit laser emission when specified conditions are detected:
1. Millimetre-wave radar detects people or large animals in the detection zone.
2. Vision AI provides an additional detection layer for people or large animals.
3. A safety blind zone inhibits operation close to the device.
4. A background constraint prevents firing without a valid background reference.
5. Reflective-surface detection inhibits firing in areas where highly reflective surfaces are detected.
6. Fingerprint and app-password authentication restrict access. First-time use requires a 100% pass on the 15-question app safety quiz.
7. Target filtering restricts the targeting sequence to flying targets 2–20 mm in size and travelling at no more than 1 m/s.
8. An external sensor interface supports a safety light curtain.
The unit starts in scan-only mode. To enable scan-and-strike mode, select it manually in the app or on the device. However, these features do not establish an unconditional safety guarantee for people, babies or pregnant users. Before use, read and follow the product manual.
The system is designed to recognise pets as non-targets and inhibit laser emission when its safety detection conditions are triggered. However, this is not a guarantee in every situation. Follow the product manual and place the unit where pets cannot knock it over or chew it.
Photon Matrix includes an environmental scan and reflective-surface detection. When the system detects a highly reflective surface, it inhibits laser emission in the affected area. The app also prompts you to adjust the setup.
However, these features do not make every room configuration safe. Follow the manual and adjust the setup as required.
No. For horizontal or downward scanning, a valid background reference is mandatory and cannot be manually disabled. Although upward scanning without a solid background is under evaluation, it is not a released feature. Follow the operating modes and setup instructions provided for your device.
Certification and compliance work is in progress. The product documentation lists CE (LVD/EMC/RED), IEC 60825-1 laser safety, FCC, FDA, RoHS, REACH and WEEE-related requirements. However, this list does not mean that approvals or certifications have already been obtained. Relevant documentation will be provided once issued.
The supplied product documentation identifies the strike laser as IEC 60825-1 Class 4. Therefore, follow the product manual and laser-safety instructions.
Not yet. The CE process is still in progress, and no completion date is currently promised. Once the relevant documentation has been issued, we will publish it.
Placement, scanning range and everyday operation.
According to the product instructions, professional installation is not required. First, place the device on a stable surface and connect the specified power supply. The unit starts in scan-only mode.
Before enabling scan-and-strike mode, follow the manual, complete the required app safety quiz and check the setup and surroundings.
Pro version: effective radius of 6 m (approx. 20 ft), horizontal 90° sector scan. Full 360° coverage requires multiple units.
One unit scans a horizontal 90° sector, so it cannot guarantee coverage of every corner, including in a 5 × 6 m room. Position it to cover the area where mosquitoes are most active. At the same time, follow the manual’s safety, background and placement requirements. Depending on the layout and obstructions, additional units may be needed.
Yes. Photon Matrix has an IP56 splash-resistance rating. However, we recommend a location sheltered from rain and out of direct sunlight, such as under eaves or an awning.
Photon Matrix is designed for continuous operation and consumes approximately 20 W. However, continuous use must remain within the operating conditions and safety requirements in the product manual.
Connectivity, firmware updates and compatible accessories.
The Pro version supports a Bluetooth-connected mobile app for mode switching, status monitoring and firmware updates. However, the device can also operate offline without a continuous internet connection.
